About the Role
We are currently seeking dedicated support workers to assist our clients in North and West Auckland. This includes areas such as Waitakere, Kumeu, Helensville, Muriwai, Kaukapakapa, Waitoki, Wainui, Orewa, Puhoi, Warkworth, Snells Beach, Point Wells, Matakana, Tawharanui, Omaha, Te Arai, Tapora, Port Albert, Waiteitei, Wellsford, and Mangawhai.
The role of a support worker is engaging and rewarding, involving direct interaction with clients. It is not just a job; it is a chance to provide invaluable support tailored to the needs of the individuals we assist.
Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with personal care (such as showering and bathing)
- Supporting household management and meal preparation
- Aiding with exercise programs
- Facilitating community access
- Providing bowel, bladder, and catheter care
- Assisting with moving and handling, including using hoists and manual transfers
- Supporting medication management
Job Location: North & West Auckland
Please note that only candidates currently residing in North or West Auckland will be considered for this role.
Employment Type: We offer permanent full-time positions (30+ hours) and part-time roles (up to 29 hours). Casual opportunities are also available, which will be discussed during the recruitment process.
Days of Work: As this is community-based work, rotating rosters are involved, including morning, evening, and weekend shifts. Your preferred hours can be discussed during the recruitment process. We are looking for candidates who are comfortable working between the hours of 7 am and 11 pm, with the duration of shifts varying based on client needs.
About You
We are searching for calm and confident individuals who demonstrate resilience and an understanding of the challenges faced by our service users. The role of a support worker comes with various responsibilities that can be both challenging and rewarding. Candidate Pre-Requisites:
- Prior experience in personal care is preferred, whether in a rest home or community setting
- Familiarity with complex medical conditions, such as spinal injuries and traumatic brain injuries
- Experience working with children with intellectual disabilities, including Autism
- Access to a car and the ability to drive independently (a full New Zealand Driver's License is required)
- Willingness to drive a mobility van (training will be provided)
- A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial, though we also welcome individuals looking to enter the healthcare sector (comprehensive training can be provided)
- Flexibility to travel throughout Auckland
- Availability to work on a rotating roster
- Legal right to work in New Zealand is essential
