About the Role
We are excited to offer a position for a Senior Clinical Psychologist who will provide professional leadership for the psychology profession within Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Te Matau a Maui Hawke's Bay.
In this leadership role, you will oversee psychology workforce development and work closely with Group Management Teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and equitable health outcomes. Your responsibilities will include facilitating consistent standards of practice among psychologists, promoting evidence-based and safe practices, and supporting managers with issues related to psychology. Additionally, you will advocate for innovative practices and care delivered closer to home, while illustrating the contributions of the psychology profession toward meeting priority system targets.
About the Team/Service/Location
As our Psychology Professional Lead, you will provide guidance on workforce and organizational priorities that enhance the effectiveness of health services for our community. You will play a critical role in advising and contributing to policies and care pathways related to psychological models of care and treatment.
Collaboration is key in this role. You will work alongside other Professional Leaders, Allied Health Leaders, Managers, and various stakeholders across the District Health Board (DHB) and the broader health system to support and create opportunities for psychologists. Strong relationship-building skills are essential, as you will be engaging with numerous specialists both internally and externally.
About You

The following qualifications and skills are essential:
- A Master's Degree in Psychology with a Diploma in Clinical Psychology (or an equivalent qualification from overseas).
- Current NZ Registration from the Psychology Registration Board, with a Clinical Psychology scope and a valid Annual Practicing Certificate.
- Self-motivation, strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to quality, excellence, and professional development.
