About the Role
We are seeking a values-driven Occupational Therapy Support Worker to join our forensic inpatient team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, supporting individuals in their recovery journey within our specialist Mental Health and Addiction Services.
Your responsibilities will involve encouraging and facilitating meaningful activities in a secure forensic environment. We are looking for someone who brings energy, creativity, and a positive attitude, along with strong teamwork skills and the ability to build positive relationships with both clients and a multidisciplinary team.

About the Team/Service/Location
Te Korowai Whariki (TKW) is a collective of regional and national services with staff located across the Central Region, from Gisborne to Wanganui to Wellington. Our services include both inpatient and community-based support, primarily divided into Central Regional Services and Intellectual Disability (ID) Services.
The Purehurehu Forensic Inpatient Unit is a secure environment exclusively for male clients, providing treatment, assessment, and rehabilitation for tangata whaiora/consumers admitted through NZ Corrections and the Ministry of Justice.
About You
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Practical experience working with individuals who have Intellectual Disabilities and Mental Health issues
- At least a NZQA Level 3 certificate or an equivalent qualification
- The ability to design meaningful activities tailored to the abilities of tangata whaiora/consumers
- A caring and positive attitude towards individuals affected by a disability
- A strong focus on empowering tangata whaiora/consumers
