About the Role We are excited to announce an opening for a Mechanic in our Isuzu and Scania Trucks Workshop. We are seeking a reliable and hard-working professional with excellent attention to detail. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with the latest technology, diagnosing problems, servicing, and repairing vehicles, while contributing to the efficient operations of our workshop. We are committed to your success and will provide ongoing training and support. The primary purpose of this role is to perform mechanical service and repair work to a high standard of quality and efficiency, ensuring customer satisfaction. Key Areas of Responsibility Your daily tasks will include: - Carrying out vehicle repairs and maintenance as assigned, meeting dealership requirements and ensuring manager and customer satisfaction. - Ordering parts from the Parts Department when necessary to facilitate efficient job completion. - Completing all required paperwork accurately. - Following the correct procedures for warranty work and ensuring all warranty parts are appropriately tagged and stored. - Seeking assistance from the Foreman for diagnosing complex problems. - Obtaining approval for any additional work before commencing. - Returning vehicles in a clean condition after repairs. - Caring for workshop tools and using them responsibly, returning them after use. - Keeping the foreman or manager informed of any issues or complaints that may affect quality or operational efficiency. - Adhering to company procedures for environmental protection. Customer Service - Providing clear and friendly communication to customers. - Organizing and maintaining positive relationships with customers. Quality Control - Assisting in the continuous improvement and revision of processes and procedures to safeguard company policies and legal responsibilities. - Following up on any issues within agreed timeframes. - Monitoring your workflow to ensure all requirements are met. - Ensuring your behavior, conduct, and quality of work comply with the Company’s Dealer Operating Standards (DOS) at all times. Teamwork - Actively contributing to a positive team environment. - Maintaining open communication with all branch staff. - Building and retaining proactive relationships with other departments, such as parts and sales. - Being considerate of colleagues and demonstrating respect. - Participating actively in meetings. Health & Safety Each employee is expected to play a vital role in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace by: - Taking reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others. - Complying with reasonable business instructions. - Cooperating with all safe work procedures, rules, and instructions. - Reporting any pain or discomfort early. - Participating actively in the company's treatment and rehabilitation plan for an early and safe return to work. - Reporting all accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions. - Wearing and using all provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Requirements To be successful in this position, you should possess the following qualifications and skills: - A minimum of 4 years of industry experience as a Mechanic. - Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing vehicles. - Strong knowledge of vehicle models, systems, and components. - Experience using diagnostic equipment and software to identify and resolve issues. - A valid heavy transport driver’s license and a clean driving record. Essential Skills - Skilled Mechanic with 4 years of industry experience. - Heavy Transport Driver License (Class 4 minimum). - Good communication skills. Essential Attributes - A strong customer service focus. - Ability to work well with diverse individuals. - Strong attention to detail. Additional Information This is a full-time permanent position requiring 45 hours of work per week from Monday to Friday, with the possibility of additional hours on Saturdays as approved. The rate of pay ranges from $32.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant. Job Location: Dunedin, New Zealand. Candidates must have New Zealand residency or a valid New Zealand work visa (preferred).
