Description
Workforce Operations Analyst
About the Company
Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to delivering high-quality health services across the Northern Region. Our aim is to support our healthcare professionals while ensuring effective service delivery and trainee wellbeing.
About the Role
We are looking for a Workforce Operations Analyst to play a crucial role in our regional operations. In this position, you will support the timely delivery of accurate and insightful data that informs our planning, compliance, and development efforts for the RMO workforce.
You will collaborate closely with our Workforce Operations team, district stakeholders, and senior decision-makers. Your responsibilities will include workforce modeling, trend analysis, and system improvements that enhance the management of our junior doctor workforce. Each day will bring a variety of tasks that are dynamic and impactful, helping us make strategic workforce decisions that ultimately improve both service delivery and the wellbeing of our trainees.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering accurate, evidence-based analysis and modeling to support workforce planning, recruitment, and strategic decision-making.
- Leading regular and ad hoc reporting cycles, including run changeovers, run feedback, IRP (training funding), and compliance reporting.
- Conducting ongoing analysis to identify workforce trends, risks, and priorities, such as vacancies, leave, additional duties and costs, and workforce movement (e.g., attrition, onboarding, recruitment pipeline).
- Improving data quality and reporting systems, ensuring compliance and consistency across regional processes.
- Collaborating with stakeholders across districts to streamline data workflows and support regional and national workforce forecasting.
- Contributing to quality assurance activities and building data capability within the team through training and guidance.
Requirements
We are seeking a candidate with:
- At least 2 years of experience in data analysis, workforce modeling, or business intelligence.
- Proficiency in Excel and SQL, along with experience using BI tools such as Qlik or Power BI.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to present clear insights.
- An understanding of data quality, compliance, and system improvement processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving Māori health outcomes.
- Knowledge of the health sector and/or RMO workforce is desirable, but not essential.
Benefits
We are committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion in our workplace. We welcome you to be your authentic self in your application. If you can demonstrate the capabilities we are looking for, whether through family responsibilities, community roles, or volunteer work, we encourage you to apply and share your story in your cover letter.
We actively welcome applications from our diverse Māori, Pacific, disabled, and rainbow communities.
