Description
About the Company
Tradestaff Global is a leading recruitment agency dedicated to connecting skilled professionals with exciting opportunities in various industries. We are currently seeking qualified and licensed plumbers with commercial experience to work at McMurdo Station in Antarctica for the Summer 2025/26 season. This unique position offers an incredible chance to work in one of the most isolated yet beautiful locations in the world.
About the Role
The deployment period for this role is expected to be from approximately October 2025 through March 2026. We are looking for hard-working team players who are ready to take on the challenges of construction in Antarctica. You will be involved in a large commercial construction project, performing a range of plumbing tasks that include basic plumbing and repetitive work. A current New Zealand Plumbing Licence is required for this position.
What’s On Offer?
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including flights from any major New Zealand airport, food, shared accommodation, and travel insurance. The hourly rate for this position is $66.11, with payment made on a contract basis, paid fortnightly in New Zealand dollars for 54 hours per week. All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied. This role is demanding, but in return, you will be well-compensated, have the opportunity to save money while working away, gain invaluable experience, and build lasting friendships.
Requirements
It is important to note that due to travel restrictions, only New Zealand and US citizens with New Zealand or US passports who are currently and permanently living and working in New Zealand can apply. Candidates must also be willing to receive vaccinations for influenza, Tdap, and MMR.
This position is not a "fly in, fly out" role; you will be on-site for an extended period, working long hours, six days a week. Start dates are approximate and contingent upon passing medical and dental checks, obtaining security clearance, your notice period, and the availability of ice flights. Additionally, candidates must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and possess a Full Class 1 NZ Driver Licence with a clean criminal record.
The application process is lengthy, requiring patience and attention to detail. You will need to travel to Tauranga for medical and dental exams; we cover costs for testing and flights if travel is required from outside the Bay of Plenty.
