Description
About the Company
Tradestaff Global is currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and licensed plumbers with commercial experience to work at McMurdo Station in Antarctica for the upcoming summer season. This unique opportunity will run from October 2025 to March 2026, with deployment scheduled for around October. Return dates will be confirmed as the season approaches.
About the Role
Working in Antarctica is not for the faint-hearted. You will spend several months in one of the most isolated yet stunning locations on Earth.
We are offering competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. This includes flights provided from any major New Zealand airport, food, shared accommodation, and travel insurance. The hourly rate is $66.11, contracted on a basis of 54 hours per week, with pay issued fortnightly in New Zealand dollars. All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) will also be supplied.
While the work may be challenging, the rewards are significant. You will have the chance to save money while gaining invaluable experience and forming lasting friendships. If you have ever dreamed of this adventure, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.
Requirements
The role involves working on a large commercial construction project, where you will undertake various aspects of plumbing work, including basic plumbing tasks and repetitive duties. A current New Zealand Plumbing License is required for this position.
Due to travel restrictions, only New Zealand and US citizens with New Zealand or US passports who are currently and permanently residing and working in New Zealand may apply.
Candidates must be willing to receive vaccinations for Flu, Tdap, and MMR. This position requires long hours, typically six days a week, and is not a 'fly in fly out' arrangement.
Start dates are approximate and contingent upon passing medical and dental checks, obtaining security clearance, and ice flight availability. Additionally, candidates must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, possess a Full Class 1 New Zealand Driver License, and have a clean criminal record.
The application process can be lengthy, so patience is essential. Applicants must also be prepared to travel to Tauranga for medical and dental examinations, with testing and flights covered for those coming from outside the Bay of Plenty.
Benefits
We invite you to apply online with an up-to-date CV that details your commercial construction skills, experience, and the types of projects you have worked on. If your initial application is successful, we will follow up with more information regarding the interview and verification process.
We are looking for candidates who are IT literate, have excellent attention to detail, can follow instructions, and are capable of managing complex paperwork.
