About the Role
We are seeking a Sealing Supervisor to plan, organize, direct, and control the activities and operations of Chip Seal Surfacing within our Masterton Region. In this role, you will manage and supervise our Sealing Crew to ensure optimal resource management and project execution.
To excel in this position, you should have proven experience in a supervisory or foreperson role, ideally within the Civil Engineering industry, along with a strong commitment to health and safety.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will bring the following qualifications and skills:
- A thorough understanding of sealing specifications and procedures, with experience in the use of bitumen or emulsion being advantageous.
- Technical expertise in sealing treatment selection, binder application rates, and site-specific adjustments.
- Practical experience in chip sealing.
- The ability to drive projects to completion within specified timeframes, maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
- Strong leadership capabilities that empower and influence others.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
Additional requirements include:
- A New Zealand Full Class 1 Licence is essential, with Class 2 and WTR endorsements being beneficial.
- Prior sealing experience and knowledge of aggregates and surfacing (both hot mix and chip sealing) are highly sought after.
- A strong focus on health and safety for yourself, your team, and the public.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build long-lasting relationships.
- A reliable, honest team player who leads by example.
- Experience working with the Sealing Manager to program and execute current and future workloads, track actual costs against target estimates, and assist in upskilling the crew.
