Health New Zealand, Te Whatu Ora - Capital, Coast, Hutt Valley, and Wairarapa District is dedicated to providing exceptional mental health services across the lower North Island. Our Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) serves a diverse population, offering local, regional, and national support. We are a major employer in the Wellington region, with over 6,000 full-time equivalent staff and operate multiple hospitals, including Wellington Regional Hospital, Hutt Valley Hospital, and Kenepuru Hospital.
About the Role
We are currently seeking Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists to join our outstanding teams within the Younger Persons sector. We have available positions for both outpatient and inpatient services, with options for full-time or part-time employment. We are open to considering candidates interested in either permanent or fixed-term roles.
Our Younger Persons sector specializes in providing mental health services to children and adolescents aged from birth to 19 years who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health conditions. Our teams address a range of needs, including specialist services for eating disorders, inpatient care, first episode psychosis, and community-based support for general mental health presentations. We pride ourselves on our collaborative approach, working alongside various community agencies to ensure that our services are holistic and culturally appropriate.
We foster a multidisciplinary environment, where professionals such as psychologists, social workers, nurses, and occupational therapists work together to deliver high-quality care to young people. Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must be vocationally registered in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) or hold an equivalent qualification that qualifies you for registration with MCNZ. Specialty training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is essential. We are looking for individuals who can work effectively and flexibly within a team environment.
