Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Nelson Marlborough is currently seeking three experienced Senior Medical Officers to join our Intensive Care Unit at Nelson Hospital. About the Role
We are looking for three permanent part-time Senior Medical Officers, each working 0.75 FTE (60 hours per fortnight). As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our patients while enjoying the stunning lifestyle that the Nelson region has to offer.
In this role, you will collaborate with a team that includes two Anaesthetists with Intensive Care skills and two Intensivists. Your responsibilities will include participating in an Intensive Care daytime roster and an after-hours on-call roster (1:7). You will provide expert medical care to critical patients in the intensive care unit and respond promptly to emergency situations. Additionally, you will work with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans. Our ICU is currently working towards achieving CICM level 2 accreditation.
Requirements
The ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Clinical expertise in a smaller provincial hospital setting and an appreciation for the lifestyle the region offers.
- Essential senior experience in providing intensive care for patients with acute, severe, and life-threatening conditions.
- Anaesthetic qualifications with ICU expertise; however, all Senior Medical Officers with relevant ICU experience will be considered.
- Eligibility for an Annual Practicing Certificate with the Medical Council of New Zealand in a relevant vocational scope.

The salary for this position will be determined according to the current Senior Medical and Dental Officer collective agreement, based on your skills, experience, and vocational registration in New Zealand.
In addition to a competitive salary, you will receive:
