About the Company
Ventia is a prominent infrastructure services company operating throughout Australia and New Zealand. We work with clients who own and manage assets vital to our local communities. Our commitment is to deliver services smartly, safely, and sustainably, utilizing the latest technologies and the expertise of our talented workforce. With a rich and diverse heritage, we have a proven track record of providing essential services to the communities we serve.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a proactive and people-focused Employee Relations Team Lead to join our dynamic People and Culture team at our head office in Auckland CBD. This role is not just a leadership position; it represents an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a large, diverse organization that values Collaboration, Challenge, Integrity, and Ingenuity.
In this position, you will support a predominantly blue-collar workforce within the Asset Management and Infrastructure services sector. Each day will present hands-on opportunities that contribute positively to the community you serve. As the Employee Relations Team Lead, you will oversee a small, dedicated team consisting of one Senior Advisor and one Advisor. You will serve as the first point of contact for their queries and casework, providing coaching and support to help develop your team members. Additionally, you will act as a key support to the People Services Manager-Advisor and may step in as the second-in-command when necessary.
Your responsibilities will include ensuring quality and compliance by auditing casework and providing timely and accurate closure of matters. You will offer clear guidance on policies, enterprise agreements, and industrial legislation. In addition, you will manage stakeholder relationships, acting as a trusted advisor for complex matters, and support leaders with practical, risk-aware solutions. This is a hands-on role where you will manage 10-15 cases at any given time, dedicating approximately 90% of your time to these responsibilities.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess a qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline. A solid understanding of employment and labor law, particularly within a blue-collar environment, is essential. You should have demonstrated experience in a similar position, whether in Employment Relations or as an HR Business Partner within a medium to large organization. Strong leadership skills, excellent stakeholder management abilities, and the capacity to communicate with clarity and empathy are crucial. We are looking for someone who remains calm under pressure, is well-organized, and can manage competing priorities effectively.
Benefits
At Ventia, we value diversity and are enriched by the unique experiences, talents, and cultures of our team members. We are committed to providing a safe and positive environment that offers equal opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds, including Māori and Pasifika people, LGBTTQIA+ individuals, women, veterans and their spouses, and people with disabilities.
If you are ready to help shape a positive, fair, and supportive workplace for all, we encourage you to apply now. Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a medical assessment and a police check. For any inquiries, please contact marie.sinajon@ventia.com.
