Important Note when applying:
This role serves as a casual/reliever position, primarily focused on providing staff coverage. Candidates must have reliable transportation to work at our sKids Christchurch locations.
About the Company:
sKids was established in 1996 by two parents who aimed to create a structured out-of-school care service for primary-aged children. Today, we are proud to be New Zealand’s preferred children's hangout, serving over 3,800 children daily at more than 170 school sites. At sKids, we believe in fostering a fun environment, allowing our team to connect with their inner child through engaging activities such as day trips, cooking, arts and crafts, science, sports, and much more.
About the Role:
As a Casual Programme Assistant, you will supervise and assist children in various program activities. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that the environment remains clean, tidy, hygienic, and safe for all children, staff, parents, and visitors at all times. You will support the Programme Manager in executing the daily schedule as per outlined duties and report any concerns regarding children or behavioral issues directly to the Programme Manager.
The hours of work will vary, as you will be scheduled based on the needs at multiple sites within the Christchurch region. To facilitate flexibility and ease of travel between locations, having access to a reliable vehicle is essential. Shifts will primarily occur on weekdays from Monday to Friday, with most hours falling during the after-school schedule, which typically runs from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Additional hours may be available during holiday programs.
Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you must hold a valid visa to work in New Zealand without restrictions. You should also have reliable transportation, preferably a vehicle, to travel between our various sites. A keen interest in working within similar industries is important, along with previous experience working with children, whether through babysitting or volunteer roles.
Benefits:
We offer a range of perks and benefits to our employees, including a 50% discount on selected programs, an Employee Assistance Programme, a referral bonus, and a supportive team environment. There are excellent opportunities for career development, with pathways to advance to a Senior Programme Leader position and beyond.
