Data and Reporting Lead

About the Company We are a well-established financial services organization currently undertaking a significant core systems transformation. This program aims to modernize our technology, enhance our data capabilities, and improve overall business agility. About the Role We are seeking a Data & Reporting Lead for a two-year fixed term or permanent position based in Wellington. In this role, you will take ownership of the data delivery stream, overseeing planning, execution, and collaboration among various business and technology teams. You will lead a team of five to six specialists and work closely with other workstream leads to ensure that our data, reporting, and governance objectives are successfully met throughout this multi-year transformation initiative. This newly created leadership position offers you the opportunity to have a direct impact on how data informs business outcomes within one of New Zealand's most significant transformation programs. What You Will Be Doing - Leading the Data & Reporting workstream to ensure key milestones and deliverables align with program objectives. - Coordinating people, processes, and partners to deliver accurate, governed, and business-ready data. - Reviewing and validating assumptions, resourcing plans, and delivery timeframes for the workstream. - Taking a hands-on approach to data validation, SQL query writing, and resolving technical issues as needed. - Collaborating with other workstreams to align interdependent activities. - Providing oversight of data modeling, testing, warehousing, and reporting frameworks. - Managing relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure consistent progress and quality of delivery. About You You are an experienced data leader who can effectively balance strategic delivery with technical expertise. You thrive in complex, cross-functional environments and have a proven track record of guiding teams through large-scale change. You will bring: - A minimum of five years' experience as a Data Delivery Lead, Data Architect, or Product Owner in enterprise settings. - Hands-on experience with SQL, along with a solid understanding of data validation, modeling, and testing. - Proven leadership and stakeholder engagement skills across both business and technical teams. - Experience in the financial services sector or regulated industries is preferred. - The ability to lead by example and get technically involved when necessary.
