About the Role
We are seeking a part-time Speech Language Therapist to join our team at Wairau Hospital on a fixed-term basis, concluding in late December 2025. This position provides a wonderful opportunity to gain experience across various clinical settings while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of our region, which is rich in national parks, sunshine, and beaches.
In this role, you will primarily work with adult patients who have dysphagia and communication challenges, focusing on inpatient care in both acute and rehabilitation settings. There may also be some outpatient work involved. A wide range of clinical presentations will be encountered, and having strong generalist skills will be advantageous. The role requires a commitment of 24 hours per fortnight (0.3 FTE).
About the Team/Service/Location
You will be part of a supportive team of three part-time speech-language therapists at Wairau Hospital. Together, we provide inpatient, outpatient, and community services to adult patients in need of speech-language therapy across the Marlborough region. Collaboration with the wider multi-disciplinary team at Wairau Hospital is essential, and you will also be integrated into the district-wide adult speech-language therapy team, which includes six clinicians based in Nelson.

About You
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- A relevant qualification in speech-language therapy that is recognized and approved by the New Zealand Speech-language Therapists Association (NZSTA).
- Registration with the NZSTA.
- A current full driver's license.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
Additionally, you must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid New Zealand visa at the time of application.
