About the Role We are excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated psychiatrist to join our team at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, New Zealand. In this role, you will collaborate with a passionate group of Mental Health Clinicians who support each other in making a meaningful impact in the lives of tamariki, rangatahi, their whanau, and the wider community. This position offers a diverse range of experiences. You will engage with various specialists, both internally and externally, and it is essential to maintain strong working relationships with these individuals. Key responsibilities include: - Providing comprehensive psychiatric care across a spectrum of mental health issues, from enduring mental illness to trauma, grief, and distress. - Contributing to systemic changes within the mental health framework. About the Team/Service Our team, part of the Health NZ Te Whatu Ora Waikato provider arm of ICAMHS, is located in central Hamilton. We specialize in providing services to children and adolescents experiencing significant mental health challenges, with a strong emphasis on family involvement in the recovery process. Our community-based service is open Monday to Friday. About Hamilton Waikato Hospital is a major regional hospital and a leading tertiary teaching facility in Hamilton, New Zealand. It serves as the regional hub for the Midland area, which includes Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairawhiti, and Taranaki districts. With approximately 722 inpatient beds and advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities, Waikato Hospital offers comprehensive healthcare services. Hamilton is a vibrant city located alongside the picturesque Waikato River, offering a blend of nature and culture. You can explore the stunning Hamilton Gardens, visit the Waikato Museum, or enjoy the local zoo. The city is filled with cafes, restaurants, and bars, and hosts various events, including rugby and cricket matches, as well as the National Agricultural Fieldays and the Balloons over Waikato festival. About You To be considered for this role, you will need: - Vocational registration or eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. - A flexible and versatile approach to clinical practice, with a passion for teamwork. - A willingness to contribute to service enhancement and improvement.
