About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated psychiatrist to join our team at Waikato Hospital. This permanent, full-time position involves 44 hours per week, which includes 42.5 hours during office hours and an averaged 1.5 hours for after-hours responsibilities.
In this role, you will experience a dynamic work environment, collaborating with various specialists both internally and externally. You will have the opportunity to build strong working relationships while addressing a wide range of psychiatric issues, from chronic mental illness to trauma, grief, and distress.
Our supportive and caring team is committed to providing quality clinical services to tangata whaiora (people seeking wellness) and their families within the Te Whatu Ora Waikato boundaries. As a clinical expert, you will apply current knowledge, skills, and attitudes in psychiatry to clinical situations and team decision-making. You will also participate in clinical partnerships to ensure that tangata whaiora and their whānau receive integrated, effective, and efficient assessment and care.
About the Team/Service
Our Mental Health and Addictions Service at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora - Waikato specializes in providing services for individuals experiencing serious mental health challenges. We emphasize the importance of family and whānau involvement in the recovery journey. Our community-based service operates Monday through Friday and collaborates with various community partners across the Waikato region.
About Hamilton
Waikato Hospital is a prominent regional hospital located in Hamilton, New Zealand. As a leading tertiary teaching hospital, it serves as the regional hub for the Midland area, encompassing Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairāwhiti, and Taranaki districts. With approximately 722 inpatient beds and 22 operating theatres, our facility offers comprehensive services, including radiology, laboratory, and pharmacy.
Hamilton itself is a vibrant city alongside the picturesque Waikato River, offering a blend of nature and culture. About You
To be considered for this role, we are looking for a psychiatrist who is vocationally registered or eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
