About the Role We are excited to announce a full-time permanent opportunity for an Assistant Manager in our Bakery Department. This role is ideal for seasoned leaders looking for a new challenge or individuals ready to take the next step in their career. In this position, you will support the department manager with various administrative tasks while actively working alongside the team in the bakery. Your leadership will help ensure that we maintain consistent, high-level performance throughout the department's operational hours. Key Responsibilities - Provide exceptional leadership to our bakery team, demonstrating a proactive and hands-on approach. - Maintain a strong customer focus, ensuring that the level of service provided by yourself and the team is outstanding. - Collaborate with team members, whether you are handling administrative tasks or guiding daily operations. - Engage in coaching conversations that foster team performance and morale. - Demonstrate the ability to multi-task, troubleshoot, and remain composed under pressure. - Cultivate positive relationships with team members from diverse backgrounds, bringing both energy and calmness to various situations. - Have a foundational understanding of HR practices related to team management, including confidentiality, performance management, and training. - Manage rostering effectively, considering its impact on wage budgets. - Strive for excellence with a result-oriented mindset, paying attention to detail. - Recognize that your success is tied to the success of the team. - Remain physically fit, as the role requires being on your feet and maintaining workflow while assisting both team members and customers. - Understand and adhere to regulatory practices related to health and food safety. - Embrace growth, challenge, and change, as we aim to enhance the department and customer shopping experience through progressive thinking. Requirements - Flexibility and reliability are essential, as the specific hours will be adjusted to suit the right candidate. The rostered days will be Tuesday to Saturday, with early starts (5 a.m. or earlier). - Reliable transportation is necessary, as public transport is not available during early hours. - All applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand and be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
