About the Role
We are seeking a full-time Administration Assistant to join our Furniture team in our Mt Wellington store. In this role, you will serve as the go-to person for administrative tasks, ensuring the smooth operation of the store. Your responsibilities will include managing the Proprietor’s diary, answering phone calls, arranging meetings and travel for staff, and handling correspondence, including writing letters, taking dictation, and recording meeting minutes.
You will also be responsible for welcoming visitors, liaising with clients, suppliers, and employees, as well as advising customers on stock arrivals and organizing deliveries as requested. Additionally, you will ensure cash floats balance before store opening, reconcile cash registers at the end of each day, and assist customers at the cashier’s desk with sales transactions when needed. It is essential to be health and safety conscious, as the role may involve heavy lifting.
Requirements
To be successful in this position, you should possess the following skills and experience:
- A minimum of 1 to 2 years of solid administration experience in a busy environment.
- Extensive customer service experience and/or retail management experience is highly desirable.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks with a flexible, can-do attitude and strong prioritization skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the capability to manage your own workflow effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a deep understanding of confidentiality.
- Good numeracy skills and the ability to perform calculations accurately.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in MS Word and MS Excel.
- Familiarity with the Fair Trading Act and Consumer Guarantees Act is desirable.
- A positive, energetic, and confident demeanor, along with an approachable attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team.
