About the Role
We are looking for a passionate team member to join us in a full-time position within our acute mental health crisis respite service. You will work alongside the crisis assessment and treatment team in a beautiful villa located in Nelson, providing 24-hour care. Our focus is on supporting individuals facing mental health distress that prevents them from staying in their home environment. In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering short-term crisis respite support.
Your shifts will be from Sunday to Thursday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Nelson. Your responsibilities will include:
- Focusing on the individual’s needs and ensuring culturally safe practices.
- Completing relevant administrative tasks, taking comprehensive notes, and providing effective handovers to the next shift.
- Collaborating and supporting your colleagues in delivering care.
- Offering medication support when necessary.
- Assisting individuals with daily living skills, including cooking, cleaning, gardening, and other household tasks to help them achieve healthier lifestyles and set personal goals.
About You
To be considered for this role, you must possess a Level 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or an equivalent qualification). You can verify equivalency at the provided link. Attention to detail is crucial, especially in providing medication support. You should also share our commitment to a recovery-focused approach.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A New Zealand Certificate Level 4 in Health and Wellbeing (or a recognized equivalent). Please ensure that overseas qualifications meet New Zealand equivalency.
- Preferred experience in mental health.
- A full New Zealand driver’s license.
- A current comprehensive first aid certificate, or a willingness to obtain one.
- The right to work in New Zealand, as this role is not supported under the AEWV.
