    Description

About the Company We are a family-owned agricultural business with a legacy spanning over two decades. From our humble beginnings, we have expanded into a robust company operating across three regions in Australia and Tasmania, specializing in both beef and dairy production. Our commitment to sustainable farming practices, innovative technology, and optimal herd health, combined with a dedicated and experienced team, has been pivotal in our success. We are currently looking for a passionate Junior Second-in-Charge (2IC) to join our team at one of our 750-cow dairy units in North West Tasmania. About the Role The dairy farm, located in North West Tasmania, is home to 750 cross-bred cows and operates through a 60-stand rotary shed designed for ease of use. Significant investment in time and resources has been made to create a positive working environment. We are transitioning towards a fully spring-calving herd, beginning mid-August. Our farming practices are primarily pasture-based, supplemented with grain feeding, and the landscape resembles parts of Canterbury, complemented by a similar climate. You will report to the Farm Manager, who has a decade of industry experience and a strong commitment to continuous improvement for the farm, team, and animals. As a Junior 2IC, you will receive robust support from both the Farm Manager and the Operations Manager to help you grow and advance your career. Key Responsibilities In this role, your key responsibilities will include: - Supporting the Farm Manager in daily operations, systems, and planning on the farm. - Leading and supporting the dairy team in the absence of the Farm Manager. - Continuously working to enhance time management and operational efficiencies. - Overseeing daily operations, which include milking, calving, moving stock, fencing, feeding out, spraying, and machinery operations. - Performing farm repairs and maintenance. - Ensuring farm health and safety standards are met. About You We are looking for an experienced Dairy Farmer or a passionate farm assistant seeking to take the next step in their career. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes: - Tertiary qualifications in Agriculture or a related field are preferred. - A minimum of three years of extensive dairy industry experience covering all daily operations. - A positive attitude and a genuine passion for animal welfare. - A strong commitment to maintaining a safe workplace, along with reliability and punctuality. - Strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. - A desire to further your career in the agricultural sector. - Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination. - A valid driver’s license and the right to work in Tasmania. Benefits We offer a competitive salary of $75,000 AUD plus 12% superannuation. In addition, you will receive: - Tidy and clean two-bedroom shared accommodation included (currently vacant). - The opportunity to be part of a growing agricultural business that values its employees and animals. - A work-life balance with an average of 50 work hours per week, based on a variable roster. - The possibility for a partner to work on the farm, whether full-time, part-time, or casual. - Access to great attractions, shops, and a vibrant community. If you are ready to grow your career with us in a dynamic and supportive environment, we would love to hear from you.
