About the Role
We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a Station Operator to join our dedicated PowerNet Field Team West, based at the Stewart Island Power Station. This role is ideal for those who appreciate the outdoors, with stunning bush and beach right at your doorstep. As a Station Operator, you will be part of a small team responsible for coordinating and completing various tasks and projects, including:
- Regular maintenance and monitoring of diesel generator sets
- Construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution networks
- Upkeep of station buildings, street lighting, and metering
- Liaising with customers, including facilitating new connections
- Participating in the fault response roster
Requirements
To be successful in this role, we prefer candidates with the following skills and experience:
- Registration as an Electrician or a Distribution Line Mechanic
- A mechanically minded approach and a genuine interest in the electricity distribution industry
- A current Class 1 driver’s license is required; a Class 2 driver’s license is preferred
- Enjoyment of working outdoors as part of a small team
- Basic computer skills
