We are currently seeking expressions of interest from experienced Sheet Metal Fabricators for an assignment at McMurdo Station in Antarctica. This role offers a chance to work in one of the most remote and challenging environments on the planet. About the Role The assignment will take place at McMurdo Station, which accommodates approximately 1,000 residents during the summer season. We offer competitive pay rates, with wages at $45 per hour and contracting rates at $55 per hour. There are two intakes available; candidates can choose to participate in one or both: Intake 1: October 2025 - February 2026 Intake 2: February 2026 - October 2026 As a Sheet Metal Fabricator, you will be responsible for various fabrication tasks in a unique setting. Requirements To be considered for this opportunity, you should possess the following qualifications: - Unrestricted New Zealand work rights (please note that we do not provide sponsorship or visa variations) - Proven experience as a sheet metal fabricator, along with references - NZ Certificate in Engineering Fabrication (Trade) (Level 4) with a strand in Light Fabrication, or an overseas equivalent What to Expect When You’re Down There During your time at McMurdo Station, you can expect the following benefits: - Accommodation provided in a shared room - Free meals - Free flights from any major New Zealand airport - Work schedule: Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 5 PM What to Expect Before You Start Prior to your assignment, you will need to complete several pre-employment checks, including: - Medical and dental assessments - Criminal background and security checks - Vaccinations What to Do Now If you are interested in this unique opportunity, please apply through the provided link.
