Description
About the Company
At Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, we are committed to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and aim to create a health system that serves all New Zealanders. Our focus is on collaboration and inclusivity, ensuring that we provide the best possible care to our community.
About the Role
We are seeking a registered Psychologist to join our Renal and Diabetes Services at Whakatane Hospital, located in Bay of Plenty Hauora a Toi. This is a newly established position that will involve working closely with teams to cultivate a strong multidisciplinary approach to our services.
The role is a permanent part-time opportunity, with 0.4 FTE (16 hours per week) dedicated to renal services and 0.1 FTE (4 hours per week) allocated to the diabetes service. This is a remarkable chance to help shape and enhance the psychology services within a small, dedicated team.
About the Location and Team
Whakatane, known for having some of the highest sunlight hours in New Zealand, offers stunning award-winning beaches just 15 minutes from the hospital. Enjoy the tranquility of native bird songs in our bush-clad walkways, and take a dip in the cleanest freshwater lakes in the region.
Joining our team means embracing a uniquely fulfilling lifestyle outside of the larger cities. Whakatane may be small, but it provides all the essential amenities while remaining conveniently close to Tauranga and Rotorua for additional experiences.
This role is situated within the Te Koru Rehabilitation department, where we collaborate with renal and diabetes services. Our renal service is a small department equipped with six chairs and operates six days a week across two shifts. The Te Koru Rehabilitation department includes allied health professionals across acute services, inpatient, rehabilitation, community, and outpatient services. We pride ourselves on having supportive teams that work together to achieve the best outcomes for our clients in a positive working environment.
