About the Role We are seeking a registered Psychologist to join our Renal and Diabetes Services at Whakatane Hospital in the Bay of Plenty region. This new permanent part-time position will focus on developing a strong multi-disciplinary approach within our services. The role comprises 0.4 FTE (16 hours per week) allocated to renal services and 0.1 FTE (4 hours per week) dedicated to diabetes service. This is a wonderful opportunity to help shape and develop the psychology service for both renal and diabetes care within a small, dedicated team. About the Location and Team Whakatane is known for having some of the highest sunlight hours in New Zealand and features award-winning beaches just 15 minutes from the hospital. Residents can enjoy the serene sounds of native birdlife in the bush-clad walkways and swim in pristine freshwater lakes. Our team enjoys a rewarding lifestyle that balances work and leisure outside of the larger cities. While Whakatane may be small, it offers essential amenities and is conveniently located for easy access to Tauranga and Rotorua. This role is situated within the Te Koru Rehabilitation department and involves collaboration with both renal and diabetes services. The renal service operates six days a week with six chairs and two shifts, providing a supportive environment. Our department includes a range of allied health professionals, allowing for a collaborative atmosphere where we prioritize the best outcomes for our clients. About You To be successful in this role, you should: - Be a New Zealand Registered Clinical Psychologist with current APC - Hold postgraduate training in clinical psychology and other relevant qualifications - Demonstrate core facilitative skills in interpersonal interactions - Possess a current Driver's Licence - Appreciate and understand cultural differences - Be willing to advocate strongly for our community This position is suitable for individuals trained in, and adhering to, the clinical scopes of practice as defined by the New Zealand Psychologists Board.
