We are currently seeking a talented individual to join a leading company in geotechnical drilling and slope stabilization across New Zealand.
About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a mechanic to fill in during our client's current mechanic's leave for the next few months. This role is based at the Silverdale workshop and offers guaranteed 40 hours of work per week, with a competitive hourly wage of $35 to $40, depending on your experience and skills.
In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
- Plant maintenance and planning
- Performing plant service, repairs, and troubleshooting/diagnostics
- Ensuring all plants and equipment are safe to operate
- Overhauling mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Responding swiftly to plant breakdowns throughout the North and South Islands
- Keeping comprehensive records of all service and repair work on plant and equipment
- Managing the inventory of spare parts
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Experience as a plant fitter
- Proficient in cold hydraulics
- Good working knowledge of general engineering systems
- Strong understanding of hydraulic and air pneumatic systems
- Basic understanding of electrical systems
- Proven track record in technical delivery and record-keeping
- A valid FULL NZ Driver's license
- NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
- A strong commitment to health and safety practices
- Physical fitness, as the role requires heavy lifting
Other beneficial attributes include:
- Trade qualification
- Knowledge or experience in electrical diagnostics
- Coded or trade certification as a welder
- Experience with drilling equipment and geotechnical construction equipment, such as drill rigs, excavator-mounted drill masts, grouting equipment, and hydraulic power packs
- Familiarity with rotary and drifter drilling techniques, as well as various casing systems and flushing mediums
