About the Role
This position offers a unique opportunity for an Emergency Specialist to work in a rural hospital environment where your diverse skill set will be invaluable. You will provide 24/7 medical coverage for the Taupo community, which consists of approximately 41,000 residents. Your responsibilities will include managing a variety of acute presentations, from initial diagnosis and treatment to discharge, as well as stabilization and transfer to secondary or tertiary care facilities when necessary.
If you have experience working in smaller, resource-limited rural hospitals, you will appreciate the level of practice and autonomy this role affords. You will not be without support, as Taupo Hospital has recently expanded its junior doctor cohort to complement the senior medical officer team, along with a capable nursing staff and medical students.

About You
We are looking for a highly adaptable and experienced Emergency Medicine Specialist who thrives in a rural setting and is comfortable applying a broad generalist knowledge to diagnose and treat patients independently. To be eligible for this role, you must either hold (or be within three months of obtaining) your Emergency Medicine qualification, and hold or be eligible for General Registration/Specialist Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
