About the Role
As a Lifeguard at the AC Baths, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and enjoyable experience for our pool visitors. With our facilities more popular than ever, your responsibilities will include:
- Performing general lifeguarding duties to ensure the safety and well-being of our customers
- Supporting the Team Leader with day-to-day operations at the pools
We offer comprehensive training and a living wage, along with a range of benefits, including subsidized gym memberships and various partnership discounts. Additionally, as an employee of AC Baths, you will enjoy complimentary access to the pools. For more information about our facilities and the Taupō District, please visit our website.
We have full-time positions available, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week on a rotating roster. Please note that these roles are classified as safety-sensitive, and a pre-employment drug test will be required.
At Taupō District Council, we are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to fostering an inclusive work environment that values diversity. If you have any specific support or access needs, we encourage you to inform us during the application process to facilitate your recruitment experience.
In line with our commitment to child protection and well-being, this role is classified as a Children's Worker under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014. Therefore, applicants will need to undergo police vetting prior to starting employment, with the appointment contingent upon satisfactory results.
As part of the interview process, candidates will also be required to complete a timed 200-meter swim.
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking individuals who have a passion for aquatics and a desire to share their knowledge and experience with both customers and colleagues to enhance water safety. Ideal candidates will be excellent communicators, mature, and committed to making a positive impact in our local community.
This role is best suited for resilient individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will be part of a dedicated and energetic team, responsible for maintaining a positive Health and Safety culture across our indoor and outdoor pool areas.
While holding a current First Aid Certificate and a Pool Lifeguard Practicing Certificate is advantageous, we also welcome confident swimmers who are eager to start a career in this field, as we will provide the necessary training to help you qualify as a Lifeguard.
Please keep in mind that our pools operate seven days a week, so reliability and a commitment to working early, late, and some weekend shifts are essential.
