About the Role We are currently looking for a proactive and experienced Team Leader – Building Compliance to lead our high-performing team. This team is responsible for delivering essential functions under the Building Act 2004. Your leadership will play a crucial role in ensuring safety and compliance throughout our built environment, from building warrants of fitness to managing earthquake-prone buildings. In this position, you will: - Lead a skilled team to provide consistent, high-quality building compliance services. - Oversee key functions, including building warrants of fitness, certificates of public use, pool barriers, certificates of acceptance, and assessments of earthquake-prone buildings. - Develop and refine best practice processes for complaint response, compliance resolution, enforcement, and cost recovery. - Support and manage investigations and inspections, ensuring clear and well-documented outcomes. - Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure integrated and consistent compliance management. - Provide technical guidance and coaching to team members while managing workloads, performance, and professional development. About You We are looking for a confident leader with strong technical knowledge of building compliance who thrives on solving complex problems and guiding team members. To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate: - Significant experience in building compliance or a similar field. - A strong working knowledge of the Building Act 2004 and related legislation and regulations. - Proficiency in investigation and report writing skills, including experience preparing enforcement documentation for legal proceedings. - Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and develop a high-functioning team. - A practical approach to managing compliance issues, delivering fair, efficient, and enforceable outcomes. - Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer and community focus. - Sound judgment with the ability to identify and manage political and reputational risks.
