About the Role We are currently looking for an experienced Foreperson to join our Christchurch team and lead our chipsealing crews. This is an excellent opportunity to manage a high-performing team engaged in various civil infrastructure projects. In the role of Foreperson, you will be responsible for supervising and managing chipsealing activities. Your duties will include planning, organizing, directing, and controlling crew operations to ensure that all projects are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards. You will lead by example, promoting operational excellence while nurturing a culture of safety, quality, and productivity. Key Responsibilities - Organize, direct, and monitor project operations, prioritizing tasks and effectively assigning resources - Collaborate with subcontractors to ensure work aligns with project objectives and specifications - Ensure all equipment under your control is operated safely and efficiently, conducting daily pre-start checks - Maintain positive relationships with clients and local authorities, addressing any concerns promptly to ensure smooth site operations - Monitor and manage risks effectively, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards Requirements - Proven experience supervising teams and subcontractors in chipsealing operations - Ability to respond to unexpected situations, make informed decisions, and provide clear direction - Strong organizational skills with a systematic approach to work - Excellent planning, verbal, and written communication skills - A commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence Benefits At Downer, we are dedicated to delivering excellence and ensuring our employees have the resources and environment needed for success.
