About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced HVAC Mechanical Foreman to join our team in Christchurch, following the acquisition of several medium to large projects in the region. In this full-time, permanent position, you will report to the Operations Manager and Day-to-Day Site/Project Manager. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring quality HVAC site installations that meet all contractual obligations, collaborating with site and project managers to support the financial success of your projects, and leading a dedicated team of HVAC installation professionals.
As a HVAC Mechanical Foreman, you will be expected to foster a high-quality, professional, and efficient service to our head contractors and clients, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and occupational health and safety standards. Building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to exceed their expectations will be a key part of your role. You will also have the opportunity to contribute positively to project operations by championing innovative ideas and initiatives.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need the following qualifications and experience:
- A background in HVAC and pipefitting, along with a solid understanding of site management.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience in the HVAC industry, preferably in a pipe fitting or ducting installation environment.
- A minimum of 5 years of post-trade experience.
- Proven experience in supervising HVAC installation teams with a focus on delivering high-quality customer satisfaction.
- Experience in installing complex HVAC plants, equipment, and systems within a commercial context.
- Strong scheduling abilities and technical expertise in HVAC and pipe fitting to support staff in resolving issues during installations.
- Familiarity with occupational health and safety guidelines.
- People management skills to lead, coordinate, motivate, and develop HVAC and pipefitting trade staff.
- Proficiency in using hand and power equipment.
- Knowledge of building codes, service regulations, and statutory obligations.
- A commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- A cooperative, team-oriented attitude.
- A valid New Zealand driver’s license.
