About the Role We are currently seeking a Workshop Modelmaker Technician to join our Faculty Technical Team on an eight-month fixed-term, part-time contract. In this role, you will work closely with our existing workshop technical staff at the Faculty 3D Modelling Workshops. Reporting to the Workshop Team Leader, you will provide essential architecture and design model-making support to both students and staff within the faculty. Key Responsibilities - Provide technical support for architectural and design model-making to workshop users. - Conduct practical demonstrations and training on both manual and digital CNC fabrication equipment and software. - Oversee health and safety training and supervision for workshop users. - Maintain general upkeep and housekeeping of workshop facilities and equipment. The specific equipment and workshop areas assigned to this position will depend on your background, skills, and experience. Responsibilities may include: - Workshop “making” using various hand tools, materials, and techniques. - Operating manual woodwork and metalwork machinery. - Utilizing digital fabrication modeling equipment, including CNC wood routers, laser cutters, and other CNC tools. Requirements We are looking for a candidate who ideally possesses a relevant trade or tertiary qualification, or equivalent industry experience in craftsmanship-type trade practices using both manual and digital making machinery. Competency in CAD software is essential. The ideal candidate will be energetic and demonstrate a proven ability to work effectively within a team. You should be able to communicate and interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including younger students from various backgrounds. Previous experience supervising workshop users with a focus on health and safety is preferred, but full training will be provided.
