Dairy Farm Assistant - Souters Dairy

The Opportunity We are seeking a Dairy Farm Assistant to become part of our dedicated team at Souters Dairy. In this role, you will assist with a variety of farm tasks, including milking, calving, and feeding stock, as well as managing effluent, spraying, and fencing activities. Your contributions will be vital to our daily operations, and you will work closely with your colleagues to help achieve our production and animal welfare objectives. About the Company Souters Dairy Farm is a well-managed operation located within our Weka Complex on the West Coast. We are recognized for our structured systems and established processes. Our 483-hectare property, situated just ten minutes from Lake Brunner and thirty minutes from Greymouth, milks 840 cows using a modern 50-bail rotary shed equipped with automatic cup removers (ACRs) and an in-shed feeding system. About the Role As a Dairy Farm Assistant, you will need to demonstrate a willingness to learn and a proactive approach. Your self-motivation and drive will contribute significantly to the success of our team. Ideally, we are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications: - Experience in a similar dairy farming role or a strong interest in pursuing one - Good communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team - A proactive attitude with a commitment to animal welfare and health and safety - A current New Zealand restricted or full driver’s license Benefits We offer a competitive salary package that includes health and life insurance, enhanced parental leave benefits, and up to 4% KiwiSaver matching.
