About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Farm Manager with strong leadership skills to oversee the operations at Bell Hill Dairy Farm. This role offers an opportunity to manage daily farming activities while fostering growth in both the land and the people involved. You will be supported by a Business Manager who will assist with various aspects such as financial reporting, planning, and pasture management.
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
- Day-to-day management of dairy operations
- Leading, coaching, and mentoring your team
- Organizing logistics and maintaining accurate data
- Managing risks and addressing problems as they arise
The Farm
Bell Hill Dairy Unit is situated in the picturesque Greymouth and Lake Brunner area on the West Coast. The farm operates with a peak of 920 cows through a 60-bail rotary system, covering a total area of 504 hectares, of which 445 hectares are effective.
About You
We are looking for someone with excellent leadership capabilities and a strong desire to learn new systems. You should share our values regarding people, animals, and the environment. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Strong dairy farming experience
- Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent communication abilities
- Proficiency in using farm management technology systems and record-keeping equipment
- Effective time and people management skills
- A strong commitment to health and safety, animal welfare, and environmental management
- A current and full New Zealand driver’s license
Familiarity with agricultural technology such as Farmax and FarmIQ is beneficial but not required.
