About the Role
We are currently seeking a passionate individual to join our team as a Support Worker. In this role, you will report to the Team Coach and collaborate with fellow staff members who share a common goal of supporting individuals experiencing mental distress.
This is a permanent, part-time position consisting of awake night shifts, based in New Plymouth. Your work schedule will follow a rotating weekly roster, as outlined below:
Week 1: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM
Week 2: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM
Responsibilities for this role include focusing on the individual needs of our clients and providing culturally safe practices. You will also handle relevant administrative tasks, maintain comprehensive notes, and ensure effective handovers among team members. Supporting clients in developing independent daily living skills is essential, as is your readiness to do whatever it takes to assist them.
In addition, you will provide medication support and engage in other responsibilities during the night shift, such as cleaning and assisting day shift staff with filing, maintaining first aid kits, preparing emergency kits, and organizing paperwork.
You
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A full New Zealand driver's licence
- A current first aid certificate or a willingness to obtain one
- The New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or an equivalent qualification. If you do not already hold this qualification, you will need to begin your studies within six months of starting your employment with Pathways and complete it within two years. We provide significant support for our staff to achieve this goal.
- Experience as a Support Worker or in a similar role
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the primary care sector
- A demonstrated commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
