Bakery Assistant

About the Company We are a vibrant café located in St Martins, Christchurch, dedicated to providing our customers with exceptional baked goods and a welcoming atmosphere. Our team is passionate about quality and service, and we are currently expanding our staff to meet the growing demands of our business. About the Role We are seeking three dedicated bakery assistants to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. This position guarantees a minimum of 30 hours of work per week, and candidates must be available to work on weekends as per our roster. As a bakery assistant, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following tasks: - Assisting in gathering and preparing bakery ingredients such as flour, sugar, and butter for daily production. - Weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients accurately according to established recipes. - Washing, peeling, slicing, and dicing fruits, nuts, and other fillings for various pastries and baked goods. - Assisting in cutting, shaping, and preparing dough for bread, rolls, and pastries. - Removing baked goods from ovens and ensuring they cool properly for storage or display. - Cleaning and sanitizing workstations, baking equipment, utensils, and storage areas. - Storing ingredients, tools, and finished products in designated areas such as pantries, refrigerators, and display cases. - Monitoring ingredient stock levels and informing the Baker or Supervisor when supplies are low. - Following food safety, hygiene, and workplace regulations at all times. Requirements To be successful in this role, candidates should have: - The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions effectively. - Physical stamina for standing, lifting, and managing baking equipment. - A strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining food safety standards. - The ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and complete a reference check from a previous employer.
