About the Role
We are seeking energetic and motivated individuals to join our team as Support Workers in our residential service located in New Plymouth. In this permanent, full-time role, you will work closely with rangatahi and tamariki in our Intensive Support Services.
As a Support Worker, your primary responsibility will be to assist young individuals in living as independently as possible within their community. You will create a safe environment that fosters confidence and skill development, while also encouraging social interactions and friendships.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate as part of a team to ensure a consistent approach to support
- Assist rangatahi and tamariki in attending school or accessing educational opportunities
- Observe and respond to health concerns, supporting the overall wellbeing of the young people
- Help rangatahi/young individuals work towards their goals and improve their outcomes
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who:
- Have a genuine desire to support rangatahi and young people in learning new skills and achieving their goals
- Possess previous experience working with rangatahi or young individuals
- Have an understanding of intellectual disabilities and autism
- Exhibit creativity, out-of-the-box thinking, and a collaborative spirit
- Hold a full New Zealand driver's license
- Demonstrate empathy, respect, and cultural awareness, as our clients come from diverse backgrounds with varying needs and interests
