About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud and Security team. This position can be based in either Palmerston North or Wellington, with occasional travel expected between the two locations.
As a Cloud Engineer at FMG, you will be responsible for guiding, implementing, optimizing, securing, and maintaining cloud-based solutions in collaboration with both internal teams and external partners. We are looking for individuals with a proactive, security-first mindset, as well as strong communication skills who thrive in a collaborative environment. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Creating, auditing, and enforcing platform standards and policies
- High-level infrastructure deployment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Maintenance and optimization of core services
- Providing platform engineering support and general advice to requestors
- Managing and reporting on costs
- Integrating solutions with other workloads, platforms, or services
- Providing feedback and technical design for proposed architectural solutions
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and experience in the following areas:
- Microsoft Azure and related services (including Entra, Policy, IaaS, Automation, AI Foundry, etc.)
- Governance and identity management
- Cloud security and related standards
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
- GitHub and GitHub Actions
- Networking concepts (such as DNS, VNET, NSGs, etc.)
- General cloud concepts and use cases (including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, CI/CD, etc.)
- Creating and maintaining documentation
- Application development practices
- Agile working methodology
