About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud and Security team. This position can be based in either Wellington or Palmerston North, with potential travel required between the two locations.
As a Cloud Engineer at FMG, you will play a crucial role in guiding, implementing, optimizing, securing, and maintaining our cloud-based solutions. Collaboration with internal teams and external partners will be key to your success. We are looking for someone with a proactive, security-focused mindset, strong communication skills, and a passion for working in a collaborative team. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Creation, auditing, and enforcement of platform standards and policies
- High-level infrastructure deployment through Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Maintenance and optimization of core services
- Providing platform engineering support and general advice to requestors
- Cost management and reporting
- Integrating solutions with other workloads, platforms, or services
- Providing feedback and technical design for proposed architectural solutions
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and experience in several key areas, including:
- Microsoft Azure and related services (Entra, Policy, IaaS, Automation, AI Foundry, etc.)
- Governance and identity management
- Cloud security and related standards
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
- GitHub and GitHub Actions
- Networking concepts (DNS, VNET, NSGs, etc.)
- General cloud concepts and use cases (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, CI/CD, etc.)
- Creating and maintaining documentation
- Familiarity with application development practices
- Understanding of agile working methodologies
