About the Company We are a dynamic team operating at the Timaru Port, dedicated to ensuring the efficient and safe movement of cargo. About the Role We are seeking a reliable and physically fit casual team member to join us as a Stevedore (Wharf Hand). In this role, you will play a crucial part in the safe loading and unloading of cargo from ships at the Timaru Container Terminal. Your responsibilities may include lashing and unlashing containers, handling cargo with strops and chains, and removing and inserting twist locks into containers. We offer both night shifts, typically from 7 PM to 7 AM, and day shifts. Requirements for the Role To be successful in this position, you should meet the following requirements: - A reasonable level of fitness, as the role involves being on your feet for most of the day. - A willingness to work in varying weather conditions. - The ability to pass a drug and alcohol test. - A full car license is preferred but not essential. - A strong awareness of health and safety practices. - Previous experience in a similar role is not necessary, as we are willing to train the right candidate.
