About the Role
We are currently seeking an Addictions Clinician to join our dedicated and supportive team at Nelson Hospital. In this role, you will be part of an experienced multi-disciplinary team focused on delivering high-quality care to consumers and their families. This position offers a valuable opportunity to enhance your skills in addiction treatment within a nurturing and positive learning environment.
As an Addictions Clinician, you will facilitate various clinical interventions aimed at promoting individual well-being, supporting recovery, and enhancing community participation. This is a permanent, full-time position, working 80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE) from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our addictions service provides community and inpatient alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment from multiple locations across the top of the South Island. We are committed to empowering the community to adopt healthier substance use practices through harm minimization, while also promoting recovery and overall well-being.

About You
The ideal candidate for the Addictions Clinician role will possess a sense of humor, compassion, and excellent communication skills. A non-judgmental attitude and a focus on developing interventions to reduce alcohol and drug-related harm for individuals and the community are essential. You should have experience in delivering assessments, case management, and group therapy.
Additionally, we value cultural competency and teamwork, and you should be a New Zealand registered health professional, such as an Occupational Therapist, Registered Nurse, Social Worker, or Registered DAPAANZ. A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) is required, with a preference for candidates who have a focus on addiction or relevant studies. It is also important that you are eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of application.
