About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated kitchen assistant to join our team at Te Nikau, Grey Hospital and Health Centre. In this role, you will help create high-quality café food for our staff, patients, and visitors. You will follow standardized recipes while incorporating your creativity to present appealing dishes. Maintaining a clean and organized workspace is essential.
This position is customer-focused, requiring strong customer service skills and the ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals. We provide training, so prior experience in a similar role is beneficial, but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
You will assist our cooks in preparing and presenting food, deliver meals to patients throughout the hospital, and ensure your work area remains clean and tidy. We are seeking a team player who is flexible and willing to support the cleaning team when needed.
Requirements
- Experience as a kitchen assistant or in a similar environment is preferred.
- Excellent customer service and food preparation skills.
- Strong teamwork abilities, along with the capacity to work independently.
- Physically fit and reliable.
- Strong time management skills.
Benefits
We offer a competitive starting salary of $23.75 per hour, based on the E tū Service and Food Workers collective agreement. Additionally, you will receive time and a half pay for hours worked on weekends and double time for public holidays.
