About the Role
We are currently seeking a Driver/Operator to join our Wellington Transport Alliance (WTA) Maintenance Team. The WTA is a collaborative partnership involving Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, Fulton Hogan, and WSP. Our team is responsible for overseeing maintenance and operations for state highways and road networks in the Greater Wellington Region, ensuring high service standards for the community.
In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating various types of machinery at our work sites. You will report to the Leading Hand and support the requirements of the Wellington Transport Alliance network. While the primary focus of this position will be in the Wairarapa region, there may be occasions where work is required in other areas of the Greater Wellington Region.
This is a nightshift position, requiring a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week from Sunday to Thursday.
Your responsibilities will include the following:
- Actively participating in pre-start meetings
- Operating plant and machinery as directed by the Leading Hand, Foreperson, or Supervisor
- Conducting checks on plant and machinery (such as tires, oil and grease) and ensuring any necessary maintenance is completed before operation
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and traits:
- A current Class 2 license with W, T, and R endorsements is preferred
- Proven experience in operating machinery within the civil industry
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new ideas and methods
