About the Role
Our Red Cross Shop in Hamilton East may be small, but it is rich in character and filled with pre-loved treasures. We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic and confident leader to cultivate a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors. The shop primarily focuses on clothing, showcasing style, sustainability, and community engagement.
In this role, you will be responsible for driving sales and achieving targets in a natural and enjoyable manner—without being pushy. Confidence and strong retail experience are essential.
You will work closely with our dedicated volunteers, leading with kindness, offering support with patience, and demonstrating flexibility as circumstances change. If you thrive under pressure and enjoy engaging with people, this position could be a great match for you.

In this role, you will:
- Lead a small team, including an Assistant Manager and volunteers, while fostering a positive and collaborative culture to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Deliver a high-quality customer experience by creating a welcoming environment and maintaining excellent shop presentation.
- Drive sales by actively engaging customers, understanding their needs, and promoting products to meet performance targets.
- Manage stock flow and donations, ensuring a diverse and appealing product range through effective sorting, pricing, and merchandising.
- Recruit, train, and develop shop employees and volunteers, leading by example with the support of the Retail Regional Manager.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Proven experience in a management role within retail or a customer service-oriented position.
- Demonstrated knowledge of retail operations, including stock management, sales drivers, administration, banking, and cash handling.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- A passion for sustainable fashion and community impact, along with a solid understanding of clothing brands.
- Exceptional customer service skills, including the ability to manage challenging situations and de-escalate conflicts effectively.
- Availability to work at least one weekend day as required.
