About the Role
We are seeking a full-time Drainage Operator to join our team at the Pomare Depot in Lower Hutt. This role involves a commitment of 40 hours per week and offers a remuneration range of $56,881 to $80,303, including KiwiSaver, based on your skills and experience.
In this important position, you will play a key role in maintaining our essential assets, particularly in the areas of water, health, and the environment. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the daily operation of the drainage network, ensuring that our services remain uninterrupted.
You will work on both the wastewater and stormwater networks to:
- Ensure a free-flowing piped network for wastewater and stormwater
- Minimize sewage overflow and pipeline infiltration
- Install new connections, conduct network repairs, and clear blockages
- Inspect and perform routine maintenance on problematic areas within the drainage system
- Construct and adjust manholes and pipelines
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should ideally have experience working independently on basic repairs within the drainage network. Key qualifications and skills include:
- Experience operating small plant and machinery
- Proficiency in using technology, such as an iPad or tablet, for recording information
- A full, clean driver's license is essential
- A solid understanding and commitment to health and safety practices in the workplace
- A reliable and hardworking attitude
- Flexibility to work on a roster that includes shift work and standby
