About the Role
We are seeking fitters to join our motivated, skilled, and friendly trades team at AFFCO Castlecliff. In this fast-paced maintenance environment, you will have the chance to learn new skills while working with the latest machinery in a modern facility.
You will be assigned a specific area of the plant, allowing you to see the direct impact of your work and take pride in your contributions. Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Adhering to health and safety best practices while actively improving health and safety systems on-site.
- Performing maintenance and repair tasks within the meat processing plant.
- Ensuring plant reliability through diagnostics and repairs, and participating in the commissioning of new equipment.
- Analyzing drawings and specifications to determine appropriate materials and methods for operations and machine settings.
- Fitting and assembling metal parts and sub-assemblies to fabricate production machines and other equipment.
- Carrying out engineering tasks such as welding, cutting, grinding, and drilling.
- Diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance on machines, including overhauling and repairing electrical components.
- Installing machinery and equipment on-site.
- Minimizing production downtime and enhancing plant efficiency.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Proven ability to minimize production downtime.
- Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Relevant qualifications in engineering trades.
- Strong organizational capabilities and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Extensive maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
- Intermediate computer literacy.
While prior experience in a similar role is preferred, we value a positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to our team as key attributes.
