Our Campus and Collegiate Life Services Division is proud to offer world-class services, including a large-scale food service operation that provides over 8,500 meals each day to eleven University Colleges. About the Role We are currently looking for a Senior Chef to join our dynamic University College food service team. This hands-on position involves not only the production of high-quality meals but also the supervision of staff. We seek an effective leader who possesses the vision and work ethic to sustain and further develop our already high-performing food service. Requirements The ideal candidate will be a hospitality professional with a diverse background in food service, complemented by strong communication and team-building skills. We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria: - Previous experience in the hospitality industry - Preferably a fully qualified Chef (City of London Guilds or equivalent) - A strong customer service focus - Outstanding communication abilities - Experience in operating a food safety program - Proven experience in delivering high-quality, varied, and nutritious meals while accommodating special dietary needs It is essential for applicants to demonstrate a high level of competency and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. The successful candidate will foster mutual respect between our primary customers and staff. Further Details This is a permanent, full-time position that operates during the academic semester (38 weeks a year, from February to November) in Ōtepoti, Dunedin. The role requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with 10-hour shifts scheduled from Saturday through Tuesday. The position is set to commence in February 2026. The hourly pay range for this role is between $31.84 and $33.34, with the potential to reach $34.84 per hour at the top of the range. Additionally, the University offers catering staff summer maintenance work as a Trades Assistant for those interested in employment during the academic break (November to February). While this position will initially be based in University College, there may be opportunities for relocation to another College on the Dunedin campus if needed.
