    About the Company Aptella is seeking a dedicated Support Technician to join our team based in the South Island. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional service in the areas of GIS/Mapping, GPS, Total Station, Machine Control, and Software solutions. This full-time position reports directly to the Region Manager and plays a vital role in supporting our customers. About the Role In this role, you will be responsible for delivering outstanding technical support to our customers, focusing on service, hire, and sales. Your main objectives will include diagnosing and troubleshooting faults related to electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, as well as conducting field support for our geo-spatial and machine control products. Key responsibilities will include: - Providing technical phone support to customers while diagnosing and troubleshooting faults. - Managing support cases within our Case Management Framework, ensuring timely resolution and accurate documentation. - Conducting field support, including installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of geo-spatial and machine control products. - Performing technical installations that involve wiring, cabling, sensor installation, and hydraulic system interfacing. - Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults, communication issues, and system integration problems on-site. - Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and technical manuals to assist with installations and repairs. - Offering internal support to the Field Services Team, providing hands-on technical assistance and mentorship as needed. - Liaising with customers to assist with delivery requirements, system setup, commissioning, and operational handover. - Delivering structured training to customers on the use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of geospatial products and machine control systems. - Maintaining tools, equipment, and vehicles in compliance with service standards and safety regulations. About You We are looking for someone with a background in surveying or a related discipline who has a strong interest in technology. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills: - A trade qualification in Auto Electrical, Heavy Diesel Mechanics, or a similar field is highly desirable. - Experience installing and servicing electronic control systems, GPS hardware, sensors, and telemetry equipment. - The ability to work independently in field environments, often under tight deadlines or in remote locations. - Familiarity with surveying practices, techniques, and concepts. - Experience with survey data preparation and various software packages. - A solid background in GPS and 3D machine control. - Excellent communication and organizational skills, along with strong attention to detail. - A team-oriented mindset with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, outgoing personality. - A goal-oriented, outcome-focused, and performance-driven approach. - Strong technical aptitude and the capability to work independently with minimal direction. - The ability to build and manage customer relationships and expectations.
