About the Role We are seeking Rural Generalists (RGs) to work across the stunning West Coast as part of our highly skilled team. If you are enthusiastic about Rural Generalism and desire to work within a broad clinical scope, this role is an excellent opportunity for you. As a Rural Generalist, you will provide care across diverse settings, including urgent care, emergency medicine, primary care, inpatient medicine, pediatrics, orthopedics, and obstetrics/gynaecology. You will have access to in-house specialists in psychiatry, anesthetics, and general surgery, and will benefit from TransAlpine partnerships for tertiary support. About the Team / Service / Location The West Coast of the South Island is characterized by its rugged, isolated beauty. Stretching from Karamea in the north to Haast in the south, it is the largest geographical locality of Te Whatu Ora, serving a population of approximately 32,500. Delivering healthcare in this environment presents unique challenges, which is why we have embraced a Rural Generalist Model to ensure equitable, high-level care is accessible to all. Our Rural Generalist Team consists of a diverse, multi-disciplinary group, including DRHMNZ and RNZCGP fellows and trainees, FACEMs, and FACRRMs. We offer tailored career development opportunities and support those pursuing dual fellowship. You will find plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities, so be prepared to bring your tramping boots, surfboard, mountain bike, and kayak.
