About the Role
We are currently seeking a Community Mental Health Nurse to join our dedicated and client-focused multi-disciplinary team at Totara House, a specialist Early Intervention in Psychosis Service. This role is a fixed-term, full-time position (1FTE) or part-time (3 days a week), and will extend until June 30, 2026. Our team works with young adults aged 18 to 28 who have experienced their first episode of psychosis.
As a Nurse Case Manager, you will engage with individuals, groups, and their families/whānau, concentrating on assessment and care coordination. Your ability to establish and maintain therapeutic relationships will be vital in developing client-focused and inspiring care plans. You will have the autonomy to think creatively and support our consumers in meaningful ways.
This role can be busy and demanding, so strong communication and organizational skills are essential. Flexibility and adaptability to a changing environment will also be key to your success. While experience in drug and alcohol work is preferred, it is not mandatory.
Requirements
- Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, including a current APC that encompasses the scope of practice for Mental Health.
- A full, current driver’s license.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with families/whānau, colleagues, and significant others.
- A commitment to delivering quality patient care.
- Ideally, you will be a Duly Authorised Officer or be willing to undergo training to become one.
