About the Role
We are seeking a passionate Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Bowen Hospital. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring that quality meals are prepared and served to our patients, staff, and visitors. Your responsibilities will include meal preparation, serving, and maintaining kitchen hygiene in our professional healthcare setting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing light meals and sandwiches
- Delivering and serving meals to patients and staff
- Operating the dishwasher and ensuring kitchen cleanliness
- Making quality barista-style coffee
- Supporting chefs and the broader team as needed
About You
We are looking for a team player with a strong work ethic, a customer-focused attitude, and a genuine passion for quality service in a healthcare environment. You should value cultural awareness and demonstrate respect for diverse backgrounds, ensuring that all interactions reflect our commitment to manaakitanga and inclusiveness.
You will bring:
- Experience in a café, hospitality, or healthcare kitchen environment
- Confidence in using commercial kitchen equipment
- A positive and adaptable attitude, with a willingness to assist wherever needed
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Basic food safety knowledge, or a willingness to learn
